 Not his real name.

I'm Bill Haywood, which is a pen name taken from the gentleman to the right.

Bill Haywood was sentenced to 30 years for striking during WWI.Big Bill Haywood (1869- 1928), was not known for playing poker.  He was a rabble rouser with the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), aka the Wobblies.  He liked to be photographed on his left side -- the one with an eye.

From 'sabotage.'Like fellow Wobbly Mother Jones, Big Bill Haywood organized strikes against dangerous types like mine owners.  I don't know if Mother Jones played poker either, but neither would have been afraid to go all in.  You've probably seen the wobbly cat, Sabo.  It is only right to have a link to the present-day IWW

About Bill HaywoodI wrote a book once about internet gambling.  It was so well received that the publisher printed another run, which was not so well received, and is still sitting in a warehouse in Las Vegas.  At Amazon, a copy will run you $1.50 or more, but I'll let you have one for $4.  Signed.  Published in 2000, the book is about how I made tens of thousands of dollars from internet casinos.  Deposit bonuses are 20% or more, so you play blackjack (house edge .5%, played correctly) for long enough to make it look good, then cash out.  This was very, very successful, especially before everybody was doing it.  It still works, but the ecasinos try a lot harder now to avoid paying.  I burned out on the sleaze, so now I play poker.  The materials on this website reflect my efforts to learn poker.  I want to write a poker book, but don't ask when it will be done.  In my main life as an academic, I'm completing a book for Oxford University Press called Name, Rank, and Serial Number: Korean War POWs and the Politics of Limited War.  An early article from my research was about brainwashing and POW movies.

Bully, as he sees himself. Self portrait in charcoal. Or graphite.

Oh, and you'll soon notice that the serpentine theme on this site is out of hand.  (Noticed the scales everywhere yet?)  A wild eastern milk snake hatchling named Bully was the inspiration.  Here he is with a self portrait that my son helped him with.
